FAQ
-
Which style manual do you use?
I use the latest editions of The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, which is what most publishers prefer. However, if you request a different style manual, I am happy to oblige.
-
How long will it take?
This depends a lot on your manuscript’s length and how much attention it needs. My usual turn around is 2-4 weeks, but timelines will be discussed and agreed upon upfront. I will keep you apprised of my progress throughout my edit, so you know the work will be done within our agreed-upon time frame.
-
What format do you accept for manuscripts?
I accept manuscripts in Google Docs and Word.
-
How does payment work?
Once I’ve received your manuscript, and we’ve agreed upon the timeline, I accept 50% of the fee upfront before I begin edits. The remainder is due upon completion of the work and before I return your manuscript to you.
-
Which genres do you work with?
While I specialise in fantasy and romance, I adore most genres. Literary fiction, science fiction, steampunk, fairy tale retellings, dark fantasy, YA, magical realism, historical, and dystopian are some of my favourite genres. I also work with all spice levels. Unfortunately, though I love poetry, it is not in my wheelhouse, and I could not deliver edits with confidence. I am also unable to accept non-fiction, children’s books, or screenplays.

What if I want more than one type of edit?
As I’m already familiar with your manuscript I offer a 10% discount for additional editing services. However, if you anticipate requiring multiple edits, we can discuss before I commence work.
